- Issue #257 October 2026Google’s agreements with Constellation for approximately 3.6GW of power in PJM and Denmark’s decision to put most large data centers at the back of the grid connection queue highlight how power access is shaping development prospects. Google’s package includes a 20-year nuclear agreement supporting $4.3 billion in upgrades, while Denmark’s new priorities make connection timing less certain for developers.
- Issue #2430 September 2026Anthropic’s seven-year, $11.6 billion agreement for Akamai Cloud CPU capacity and Microsoft’s planned investment of more than $10 billion in Gulf cloud and AI infrastructure stand out this week, committing substantial resources to long-term capacity growth. Akamai’s estimated $5.5 billion in related capital expenditure underlines the delivery burden behind these commitments, with workforce planning needing to keep pace with infrastructure and supply chain requirements.
- Issue #2323 September 2026The Generac and Amazon deal is the one worth reading properly this week. Amazon has agreed to buy up to $8 billion of backup generators from Generac, and structured the deal with a warrant that lets Amazon buy up to 1.7 million Generac shares. Generac's stock jumped as much as 40% on the news. This is a hyperscaler taking an equity position in its own power supply chain, not just signing a purchase order. It follows the same logic we have seen with Google acquiring Intersect Power and Chevron signing directly with Microsoft. Owning a piece of the companies that supply your critical infrastructure is becoming a deliberate strategy, not a one-off.
- Issue #2216 September 2026The talent movement this week is the story worth paying attention to. Krupal Raval, who spent five years at Digital Realty before running the xScale hyperscale build-out at Equinix and then a year as chief strategy officer at CyrusOne, has been named CEO of Theseus Infrastructure, the new Anthropic-backed platform funded by Macquarie and GIC. In the same week, Crux, the Google and Blackstone-backed TPU neocloud, hired Meta's data center engineering head Alan Duong. Two of the most experienced operators in the industry moving from established players into new, well-capitalised platforms tells you exactly where senior talent is flowing right now, and it is not staying at the companies that trained them.
- Issue #2110 September 2026The Anthropic figure this week is genuinely staggering. $517 billion in compute agreements signed in eleven months. To put that in context, Anthropic's annualised revenue is around $65 billion. The company is committing to infrastructure at a scale that dwarfs its current income, and it is doing so across AWS, Google, Microsoft, SpaceX, nScale, Lambda, Volta, AMD, and others simultaneously. This is not a company cautiously testing the water. It is one of the most aggressive infrastructure procurement campaigns in the history of the technology industry, covering 14.8GW of compute capacity across multiple providers and geographies.

- Issue #1926 August 2026The NVIDIA story this week is not the $500 billion financing announcement from last week. It is something more operationally interesting. NVIDIA has now partnered with both Lancium and Cloverleaf on gigawatt-scale AI data center development. Both companies are powered land specialists, meaning they control sites with secured energy infrastructure already in place. This is NVIDIA moving deliberately into the bottleneck that is slowing its own customers down. Chips are available. The facilities and power to run them at scale are not. By partnering with companies that own powered land, NVIDIA is trying to compress the gap between a customer wanting to deploy compute and actually being able to do so. It is a strategic move that goes well beyond chip sales and suggests NVIDIA sees itself as an infrastructure enabler, not just a hardware vendor.
- Issue #1819 August 2026The NVIDIA $500 billion financing announcement is the story of the week and probably the story of the month. We have covered it in detail in our talent article this edition, but the power angle that Data Center Knowledge picks up on is worth reading separately. The argument is straightforward: if this financing platform works and more companies can access capital to build GPU-dense AI infrastructure, the power requirements that follow are staggering. The industry is already struggling to secure grid connections at the pace projects are being announced. A further acceleration of demand funded by $500 billion of institutional capital makes that problem significantly harder.
- Issue #1712 August 2026The SpaceX numbers are the standout this week. 2GW of compute by the end of this year and a target of 10 to 20GW by the end of 2027. That is an extraordinary pace for a company that did not have a meaningful data center footprint two years ago. When you put that alongside the Hyundai Heavy Industries deal for 1GW of natural gas engines with an unnamed US developer, and Energy Vault's 1.25GW power supply agreement in Texas, the picture this week is really about the supply chain behind the build-out. The facilities get the headlines but the engine manufacturers, power suppliers, and equipment providers are quietly becoming as important to the story as the developers themselves.
- Issue #165 August 2026Meta is the headline this week. The company has raised its 2026 capex forecast three times this year and is now guiding to $130-145 billion, roughly double what it spent in 2025. The market did not take it well. Free cash flow fell from $8.5 billion to $784 million in a single year and investors are openly questioning whether the returns will justify the spending. Zuckerberg's answer on the earnings call was essentially that he believes in the bet. That may be true, but it is the first time we have seen a hyperscaler face real public scrutiny over AI infrastructure spending and it will not be the last.
- Issue #1529 July 2026This week's newsletter covers a broad spread of activity across all three regions, with a few stories that are worth reading beyond the headline. Hut 8 fully leasing its 1GW AI campus before it has even launched is probably the standout. It is a reminder that in this market, the most sought-after capacity is spoken for long before it comes online, and developers who can demonstrate power certainty and execution credibility are securing commitments that others cannot.
- Issue #1422 July 2026This week's newsletter has a strong Texas flavour, with CyrusOne announcing its sixth campus in San Antonio, Google filing for two new sites in Vernon, and an 867-acre Saltworks proposal in Graham. Texas continues to pull ahead of every other market globally, and the pace of simultaneous development across the state is unlike anything we are seeing elsewhere. Cushman and Wakefield's 2026 report ranked Dallas first globally as a primary market, and deals like these suggest that position is only strengthening.
- Issue #1315 July 2026This week's newsletter is headlined by Meta's Hyperion announcement, and it is hard to overstate the scale of what is being built in Richland Parish, Louisiana. What started as a $10 billion project has now grown to $50 billion and 5GW of capacity, making it one of the largest data center investments in history. What makes it worth reading beyond the headline is how Meta has approached the community and workforce dimension. Teacher bonuses up 400%, full scholarships for every local high school graduate pursuing data center trades, $5 million to the local community college, and $1 billion in local infrastructure improvements. It is a case study in how to bring a community with you on a project of this scale, and increasingly that is not optional.
- Issue #128 July 2026This week's newsletter covers a busy period across all three regions, with some announcements that are worth sitting with for a moment. The Anthropic and TeraWulf deal in Kentucky stands out, not just for the $19 billion headline, but for what it represents. A former crypto miner is now the landlord for one of the world's leading AI companies on a 20-year lease. The pivot from bitcoin mining to AI infrastructure is a pattern we are seeing more broadly, and it speaks to how quickly capital is finding new structures to meet demand that existing platforms cannot keep up with.
- Issue #111 July 2026This week’s developments highlighted how closely AI infrastructure expansion is becoming tied to long-term energy strategy. Across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific, operators and hyperscalers continued securing large-scale power agreements alongside major campus and GPU infrastructure deployments.
- Issue #1024 June 2026This week's news reflects an industry expanding in every direction simultaneously — geographically, technically, and financially. Middle Eastern sovereign capital is eyeing APAC operators. Hyperscalers are locking in gigawatt-scale power agreements across continents. New markets from Kansas to Finland to Phoenix are entering the conversation. And beneath all of it, the technology itself is evolving fast: liquid cooling is moving from a niche specification to a baseline requirement, and zero-water facilities are no longer theoretical. What strikes me reading across these stories is that the build-out is no longer concentrated in a handful of established markets. It is spreading into secondary locations driven by power availability and land, not connectivity. That shift has real implications for talent. The people needed to develop, build, and operate these facilities cannot simply be relocated from Virginia or Frankfurt, and in many of these emerging markets, the pipeline of experienced professionals is thin.
- Issue #917 June 2026This week's news paints a clear picture of an industry in full acceleration across every geography. From Singapore's national supercomputing push to KKR's $10bn Helix platform, from Data4's 700MW campus in northern France to Racks Central's billion-dollar corridor across Southeast Asia, capital is committing at a pace and scale that the talent market is not yet equipped to match. What stands out is not just the volume of investment but the diversity of it. Sovereign wealth funds, private equity, hyperscalers, and manufacturing conglomerates are all entering or deepening their positions simultaneously, each with a need to build or expand leadership teams. The Adani-Jabil alliance in India and the Schneider-Foxconn partnership are also a reminder that the build-out is no longer limited to developers and operators. The supply chain itself is industrializing, creating demand for a new profile of talent that sits at the intersection of manufacturing, engineering, and digital infrastructure. For anyone watching the hiring market, the signal is consistent: the pipeline of projects is growing faster than the pipeline of people qualified to lead them.
- Issue #810 June 2026This week’s announcements reinforced three themes shaping the market globally: operators are securing larger long-term power positions earlier, AI infrastructure demand continues pushing campuses toward greater scale and density, and newer markets are attracting investment as traditional hubs face increasing constraints.
- Issue #73 June 2026This week's newsletter spans all three regions with some significant announcements, headlined by what may be the largest single AI infrastructure commitment Europe has seen so far. There is also meaningful activity across APAC and the Americas, with new developments, energy deals, and one company making a notable shift in how it thinks about its own infrastructure. Behind all of it is the same underlying story we keep coming back to: Capital availability is increasingly becoming less of a differentiator than execution capability. The bottleneck is shifting toward engineering, power strategy, and leadership talent with hyperscale experience.
- Issue #627 May 2026This week's newsletter covers record data center investment across APAC, major project announcements from Google and Nebius in the Americas, and significant energy and consortium developments across Europe. The volume of capital committing to new markets and new technologies right now is unlike anything we have seen before, and the projects being announced today will need leadership teams in place well before they break ground. The race to secure experienced talent is quietly becoming as competitive as the race to secure power.
- Issue #520 May 2026This week’s edition highlights strong global data center momentum, with expansions, acquisitions, and new deployments across North America, EMEA, and Asia Pacific. From AI infrastructure growth and edge data center expansion to major network connectivity projects, the industry continues to scale capacity to support rising digital demand.
- Issue #413 May 2026This week highlights rapid global data center expansion, driven by major investments, AI demand, and new infrastructure projects across multiple regions, alongside emerging innovations like floating data centers and continued modernization efforts.
