Data Centre World Asia 2025: What We Heard From the Industry

Our team attended Data Centre World Asia in Singapore last year, spending two days meeting leaders across the data center and digital infrastructure industry and discussing the changes influencing how facilities are being designed, constructed and operated across APAC.

Conversations covered everything from rising power demand and sustainability to increasing rack densities, liquid cooling and the technical challenges associated with supporting AI infrastructure. One theme came through particularly clearly: as the technology and infrastructure evolve, the capabilities required within data center teams are evolving with them.

Technical Capability Is Changing

Increasing densities and new cooling requirements are placing greater demands on engineering and design teams. Companies need people who can adapt established approaches as customer requirements change, while still delivering the reliability, scalability and speed expected of hyperscale infrastructure.

We also saw examples of technology changing construction itself. Exyte demonstrated the use of a Boston Dynamics robotic dog for construction monitoring and surveying, providing a practical example of how automation and robotics are beginning to supplement traditional construction processes.

For data center developers, operators, hyperscalers, neoclouds and consultancies, these developments have implications for recruitment and hiring. Technical depth remains important, but so does the ability to adapt, understand emerging technologies and connect engineering decisions with the wider commercial and operational requirements of a project.

The APAC Talent Market is Rapidly Evolving

The conversations in Singapore reinforced what we continue to see across data center recruitment in Singapore, Australia, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and the wider APAC region. As investment in AI and digital infrastructure grows, demand is increasing for experienced talent across development, power, design, engineering, construction, commissioning and operations.
